“中—英岩土工程学术研讨会”于2006年3月31日在我系成功举行。本届学术会议由同济大学、英国杜伦大学（Durham University）发起，同济大学承办。朱合华教授和David Toll博士共同担任学术委员会主席，叶为民教授和Charles Augarde博士共同担任组织委员会主席，黄  雨副教授任秘书长。英国国家工程与自然科学研究理事会（EPSRC）对参加本次研讨会的英方代表给予了资助。
 
开幕式上，同济大学朱合华教授首先致欢迎词，英方组织者David Toll博士发表了热情洋溢的讲话。本次研讨会安排了11个报告，主要内容包括非饱和土力学、数值计算方法、水土污染修复等，体现了这些领域的最新研究成果。约40多名代表出席了本次会议。
 
本次报告内容包括：
1. David Toll: Rainfall induced landslides-strength of unsaturated soils
2. 陈宝: Unsaturated parameters of Shanghai soft soil and their applications
3. Charles Augarde: Numerical modelling in geotechnics-the use of parallel computing
4.  黄雨: Numerical assessment of the effect of reinforcement on the performance of reinforced soil dikes

5.Stephanie Glendinning: The “BIONICS” project-Electrokinetics
6.钱丽鑫: Achievements in lab tests on Gaomiaozi bentonite
7. Domenico Gallipoli: Analysis of pressuremeters in unsaturated soils
8. 蔡永昌: Methods and software for slope stability analysis
9. Karen Johnson: Use of waste products to treat contaminated land and water
10.蒋明镜: Application of DEM to geotechnical engineering 
11.Fred Evans: Advances in soils testing equipment.
 
3月30日，英方代表团还对同济大学岩土工程重点实验室进行了参观，并就如何进一步加强双方的国际合作，与朱合华教授、叶为民教授等进行了深入友好的交流与探讨，达成了初步的合作意向。
